Obituary Preview: Charles E Everett, “Chuck”, 86, passed away at home, surrounded by his family, due to Multiple Myeloma cancer. Charles was born in Bountiful, Utah on June 24, 1934, and was the second son of Ivan and Gladys Everett.

Charles grew up in the Bountiful area. He attended Stoker Elementary, Bountiful Jr. High and Davis High School. He had many childhood friends and ran around with a group calling themselves the Second Ward Seven.

After high school, he enlisted in the Naval Reserves. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Western Canadian Mission. After returning from his mission, he enrolled at the University of Utah and studied pharmacy. During this time, he met Geraldine “Jerri” May Higley and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 28, 1959. They had four children, Scott, Tara, Julie, and Jackie.

He spent his early career working in pharmacies in Vernal, Salt Lake City, and Bountiful. Professionally, he found the greatest happiness working for St. Mark’s Hospital where he served as the Director of Pharmacy for 31 years. During this time, he was able to participate in many humanitarian efforts locally and abroad. These included donating blood regularly, donating medicines to individuals who were unable to pay, traveling to Ouelessebougou, Mali, Africa to help with an eye surgery service project and to Guayaquil, Ecuador to help teach pharmacy management.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving honorably in many different positions. He was well-known for his generosity to neighbors and family. One of his favorite ways of bringing joy to those around him was by sharing the wonderful produce he farmed in his garden and his pumpkin patch that he grew for his grandchildren. Willard James Ballantyne - May 27, 1933 - July 26, 2020

Departed: 07/26/2020 (Bountiful)

Obituary Preview: Willard James Ballantyne, our loving father, brother, grandfather, great- grandfather and friend, rejoined his wife, parents, Savior and Heavenly Father in Heaven, on Sunday, July 26, 2020, surrounded by his loved ones.

Jim was first born of a pre-mortal father and mother as a spiritual baby in a pre- mortal sphere. When his time came to journey the earth and obtain his earthly body it was to be to the home of Willard Burton and Louise Wilde Ballantyne in an earthly body created by his earthly mother.

Jim began the mortal part of his existence on May 27th, 1933, in Coalville, Utah.

He was sick during his first days of life and was told he may not live. His mother clenched her fists, declaring that he WOULD and that he would go on to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He grew up in Park City, Utah, attending the Marsac Elementary School and Park City High School. At a young age, Jim came down with Scarlett fever that left him mostly deaf, but that didn't stop him from doing all the things he wanted to do. He played the the trumpet in the high school marching band, and earned himself the nickname “Torpedo” playing basketball and football. His inability to hear kept him out of the military service during the war years.

He was a dedicated member of the Church, serving in various capacities such as secretary of YMMIA, Elders, Seventies and High Priests Presidencies, Sunday School and various others. As a young adult, he fulfilled his mother’s proclamation, serving a mission in Great Britain from 1955-1956.

He attended the University of Utah from 1951-1953, and transferred to Brigham Young University after returning from his mission, a decision he called a blessing. He married his destined sweetheart, Dawn Elaine Hughes, in May of 1958. From their wonderful union were born four wonderful and beautiful children, Melanie (Jensen), Russell, Rosalyn (Andrews) and Jeffrey. Dawn passed away early in her life, returning to her Heavenly Father in May of 1995 after a long battle with cancer.

He worked with several companies doing accounting and other labors, retiring from the LDS Church Welfare services in September of 1998.

In late adulthood, Jim suffered a stroke that eventually landed him in the hands and home of his loving daughter Rose and son-in-law Leo. He was an incredibly strong man, and fought hard to be with his loved ones all the way up to his last breath.

His family, friends, and neighbors will always remember the way he made them feel. He was friendly and outgoing despite his speech impediment and lack of hearing. From bouncing and sitting on his knee, waking up to his singing voice “Time to get up, time to get up, time to get up in the morning,” to being comforted and cared for by him during hardship and sickness, he truly was the world’s greatest father and grandfather. He taught his family to be hard-working, to always give 100% or more, and most importantly, how to love unconditionally.

He is survived by his brother, VerDon (LaWana), his children, Melanie (Mike) Jensen, Russell (Allison), Rose (Leo) Andrews, and Jeffrey, as well as by his 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He will be missed more than words can express, but his memory, grace, and spiritual presence will bring his family great hope and comfort throughout the weeks, months and years to come. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 30, at 11:00 am, at Russon Mortuary in Bountiful, Utah. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 am, prior to services. Graveside services following at the Bountiful Cemetery. Due to unfortunate circ*mstances such as COVID-19, his family is sympathetic and understanding of those who are unable to attend. She was a longtime resident of Bountiful, Utah. She passed away at the age of 87 surrounded by those that loved her. We know she was greeted by her sweetheart and all her family that have passed on. What a glorious reunion they are all having as Bob and the Bishop Family sure did know how to party!!! Louise was born to Heber and Vera Bishop on September 25th, 1932, in Hinckley, Utah as the seventh of ten children. She loved her family deeply and her favorite thing was being one of the Bishop girls. She loved every minute of life and was always found with a smile. Her favorite memories growing up in Hinckley include all the fun with her siblings playing baseball, kick the can or any other fun game with her dad (and the neighborhood) out front of their house, playing in the canal, rolling down the cellar, eating watermelon and being on the County Elite Softball team. She graduated from Hinckley High School in 1950 where she was the Yearbook Queen, Junior Class Vice President (with her future husband Bob serving as President), a member of the Maroon Key Club (drill team), and in the band and choir. Louise had a way of spreading her arms of love to everyone she met and will always be famous for her HUGS. Clair Holt Upton - January 30, 1934 - July 25, 2020

Departed: 07/25/2020 (Bountiful)

Obituary Preview: Clair Holt Upton, 86, was reunited with his beloved wife, Marie, on July 25, 2020. He died at his daughter's home in Bountiful, Utah.

Clair was born in Garland, Utah on January 30, 1934 to Lavelle Edward and Ina Mae (Holt) Haskell. He spent his early years on his grandparents' farm in Fielding, Utah and became his grandpa's shadow, following him around the farm while chores were done. His favorite seat was Grandpa's lap, a spot his son, Tom, claimed upon being introduced to Great-Grandpa Holt.

Clair graduated from Butte High School in Butte, Montana in 1952 and joined the Navy with his brother, Vernon. After four years in the Navy, he joined the Coast Guard. He served as Quartermaster on the USCG Cutter Storis when she, the USCGC Spar, and the USCGC Bramble went down in history as the first American vessels to transit the Northwest Passage and circumnavigate the North American continent. Clair would point out that the Storis was the first ship in the line. Clair was interviewed for a movie about the Storis and was tickled to have his name listed in the Internet Movie Database, and to be asked for his autograph once at a Coast Guard reunion.

Clair met his sweetheart, Marie Varina Humphries at a church basketball game in Norfolk, Virginia, and when he returned from sea they were married on January 10, 1959 in Norfolk, Virginia; they were sealed in the Logan Temple four days later by special permission of the First Presidency. Camille Chatelain Jarman - June 19, 1970 - July 24, 2020

Departed: 07/24/2020 (Bountiful)

Obituary Preview: Our beautiful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Camille Chatelain Jarman passed away peacefully in her home on July 24, 2020 after a three year battle with cancer. Camille was born on June 19, 1970 to Allen and Bonnie Chatelain in Salt Lake City, Utah. The third of five children, she grew up in Bountiful, Utah and graduated from Bountiful High School in 1988. Camille worked as a CNA at South Davis Hospital before moving with her family to Hershey, Pennsylvania for 18 months. Upon returning to Utah, she met Richard Jarman on a blind date and they were married on September 6, 1991 in the Salt Lake City temple. She felt blessed to have John and Carol Jarman as her in-laws.

Camille believed that motherhood was a divine calling and loved being a mother and teacher to all seven of her children. Together Camille and Richard homeschooled each of them starting in 2000. She was one of five founders of the South Davis Liber Academy homeschool co-operative and taught many courses, but she also believed in learning outside of the classroom from all of life’s experiences. Camille was involved in all of her children’s activities, from Shakespeare plays, to ballroom dancing, to science experiments. One thing that her children learned quickly was to never say ‘I’m bored,’ because Camille would always come up with things to do around the house if they did. Camille was a talented seamstress and sewed hundreds of costumes for dance performances, theatre, and trek, not only for her own children but many others, including sewing masks to donate. She worked hard to support and encourage each of her children’s dreams, including gifting dance shoes, private lessons, or supplies for new hobbies. As her children grew older and began to get married, Camille happily welcomed her two daughters-in-law and her two sons-in-law and made them feel like family from the minute she met them. One of her greatest achievements was becoming a grandmother to Ned Thomas on December 6, 2018. She adored him and recently could be found sitting happily at her sewing table with him beside her, cutting fabric together.

Camille had a passion for helping women bring their children into the world, and assisted in a number of births in Utah. She loved babies and children and had a magical touch with them. She was devoted to taking care of new moms and had so much passion for motherhood. Camille would drive for an hour at three in the morning to help those in her care. She had an answer to every medical question or tell you where to get what you need. She would defend motherhood no matter what.

Camille was welcoming and caring towards everyone. She wanted everyone to have a voice, especially the underdog and helped others stand up for themselves. Camille was independent and believed everyone should make their own decisions, especially her own children. One of her favorite things to say was, “figure it out!” - find out what you want to do and do it, don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t. Camille was described as a spitfire and not afraid to speak her mind although she never said unkind words about anyone. Even when her health tried to drag her down she was always serving her community and trying to learn new things like crafts, recipes, and wisdom from as many books as she could. She had a mischievous sense of humor and would lovingly tease people with a twinkle in her eye. Camille and husband, Richard, always teased each other as to who was the boss of the family.

Camille was strong and persevering, despite the health issues that took a toll on her body and mind. Even though she fought a battle with cancer for 3 years, and many other ailments for much longer, we feel like she won. Because even though she may not have beat cancer in the way everyone wants, even though she wasn't healed in this life, she fought hard, she never became bitter or hateful, she never complained or stopped finding new ways to make the best of what she had, and she never turned from her God or stopped loving the people around her. She won. And now she's getting the best rewards anyone can, free from any limits.

Camille loved the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a natural believer who adored her Savior, Jesus Christ, and genuinely followed the tenets of the gospel. She believed “honesty is the best policy” Her favorite calling in the church was Ward Girls Camp Director because she loved camping and the outdoors, especially building fires and cooking over them. She enjoyed serving in the temple and she understood and drew upon the powerful blessings that come to those that serve there. Camille was amazingly in touch with the spirit and allowed it to guide her as a mother and give her confidence that she knew what was best for her family and would not let anyone sway her.

Camille would want to teach others that honesty is the best policy, figure it out and get it done, and that patience is a virtue. Camille is survived by her husband, Richard; seven children, Jordan (Heather), Joshua (Theresa), Morgan (Justin), Amanda (David), Samantha, Jaxon, Kirstin, 1 beautiful grandson Ned; her father Allen Chatelain and 2 sisters: Danielle Lewis and Mignon Mansell, 2 brothers: Anthony Chatelain and Aaron Chatelain.

A family-only graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. but will be streamed on Facebook live at https://www.facebook.com/russonmortuary for all to join in. Interment will be at Bountiful City Cemetery.

Clifford Wayne Humphreys - July 09, 1921 - July 20, 2020

Departed: 07/20/2020 (Bountiful)

Obituary Preview: He was the first born to Sarah and Clifford on July 9th, 1921. He was a big brother to three brothers and one sister; Farrell, Marilyn, Dale and Garth.

Wayne had many jobs from a young age and worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He graduated high school in Carlin, Nevada in 1939. On December 7th, 1941, he met with Apostle Thomas E. McKay to be interviewed to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As they emerged from the interview they were informed that the Japanese had just bombed Pearl Harbor. Elder McKay said, "I guess your mission will be delayed for a couple of years. I promise you if you live worthy to go on a mission you will be protected and will not be killed or wounded." Wayne served in the United States Army for three years in the European Theater traveling through North Africa all the way to Germany. He served in six of the seven major battles in Europe; most of the time behind enemy lines. He was never wounded, injured, or fired a shot in anger. Wayne enlisted to serve in the Army Air Corps, but was drafted to serve in a Railroad Battalion because of his experience working on the railroad. He was a Communications Tech Sergeant which made him extremely valuable and he was often on detached duty. He served in several armies including the British 8th Army on two occasions. Although he rarely spoke about the details he was present for the liberation of the concentration camp at Buchenwald. He took photos and always said to his family, "It really happened! I was there. I saw it for myself. If you see something; say something."

Our favorite story Wayne would share was of a night in a German town during an American bombing raid. The manager of the hotel he was staying in pounded on the door in the middle of the night and told him the Americans were coming to bomb the town, and he realized he should join them in the basem*nt for protection. Upon entering the basem*nt he realized that there were 12 German civilians in a darkly lit room which made him pause and think he was in trouble. He considered what he could do to extricate himself and decided to tell everyone not to move or he would shoot. As he opened his mouth to execute his plan to escape the words that came out were, "Let's have a party!" He and a couple of the Germans went back upstairs and gathered a fruit cake and peaches and returned to the basem*nt. They actually sat together and had a small party while the bombs fell around them. At the end of the air raid everyone was safe and they returned to their rooms to sleep the rest of the night.

Wayne's unique expertise placed him in the position to be at six major battles and he was behind enemy lines often. Because of the points earned from this he was among the first American soldiers to return home. He even had enough battle points to bump a colonel off of a flight to return to the United States. He was the only enlisted person on a plane full of officers.

Upon returning from the war his mother pointed to a young lady in a red dress and said, she is the finest woman around and you should marry her. They dated and he proposed, but said that he first needed to serve a mission, to which she replied that she would serve a mission as well. He was called to serve for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Western States Mission. Because he was older and had a car, which he was sent home to get, he was made a Zone leader over the state of Wyoming and some adjacent states. He was tasked with finding and reorganizing the members in the area and told specifically to get up in the morning, pray, and follow the spirit where he should go. While still serving he was able to purchase an engagement ring and send it with the Apostle Mark E. Peterson to his fiance, Barbara Call, in the Eastern States Mission.

On July 9th, 1948, he married Barbara Call, by whom he is predeceased. They were married almost 50 years. They lived for a short time in New York City then returned to establish their home in Sparks, Nevada. They loved to travel together and road trips were a way of life. Wayne joined the Civil Air Patrol where he learned to fly and commanded the Washoe Composite Squadron doing search and rescue and flying non-airworthy aircraft to the depot for maintenance. His career was spent as the Chief Building Inspector for the City of Spark, Nevada. He served in various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including Young Men's leader, Elder's Quorum president, High Priest Group leader, Bishop, High Council Member, One of the Stake Seven Presidents Of Seventy, temple worker, ran the Bishop's storehouse, and was a Physical Facilities Representative. He and Barbara were devoted parents and involved in all aspects of their children's lives. They traveled extensively as a family and saw much of the United States. Barbara returned to her Heavenly parents June 22nd, 1998.

He married his second wife, Barbara Hope Thompson Scott on September 1st, 1999. They served as Temple workers in both the Reno Nevada Temple and the Bountiful Utah Temple. They moved from Sparks, Nevada to Bountiful, Utah where she passed away December 29th, 2005.

While in Bountiful he met and married Arlie Elaine Hanco*ck on January 12th, 2008. They had many adventures together and he again served in the temple. She returned to her Heavenly parents on April 13th, 2018.

Wayne is survived by his sister Marilyn, his children Luayne, Clifford, Alisa, Harold and Brent. He has 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Wayne is predeceased by his parents, three brothers, wives and oldest son. In the immortal words of Wayne, "Let's have a party."

A viewing will be held in Wayne's honor on Thursday, July 23, 2020 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah. Graveside services for Wayne will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Masonic Memorial Gardens, 437 Stoker Avenue, Reno, Nevada 89503, where full military honors will be rendered. Patricia Ann Dutey - December 14, 1946 - July 15, 2020

Departed: 07/15/2020 (Bountiful)

Obituary Preview: Patricia Ann Dutey passed away on July 15, 2020 after many years of battling health issues. She was born on December 14, 1946 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Clyde and Helen Kanady. She spent most of her childhood in Salinas, California where she met and married her 1st love, Gerald Cabaluna. Together they had three children. Later in life she married Michael Dutey with whom she resided in Modesto, California until his passing.

Patricia, known to friends as “Patty”, discovered her passion for helping and caring for others at an early age which led to her eventual career in health care. She worked in home health care and in the Extended Care Unit at Natividad Hospital. She was a woman with a compassionate and generous heart and cared for many people when they could not care for themselves any longer. So many people will remember Patty’s love and laughter as a light that shone brightly for them in their darkest hours.

Raised an only child, Patty was extremely close to her parents throughout her entire life. She was a self-proclaimed “Daddy’s girl”, loved to cook and garden with her mother, and cared for them both in their later years until she laid them to rest in Tec*mseh, Oklahoma. As a teen, Patty enjoyed competitive skating, always donning dresses her mother hand-made for her. Her favorite pastimes included reading (she was particularly fond of murder mysteries), drawing, coloring, painting, and ceramics. Growing up on a farm spawned her love for animals; she had a special place in her heart for cats and was “mom” to many over the years. She lovingly admitted to her daughters on a regular basis that while she enjoyed being a mom, there was nothing better than being a Grandma. Very little brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren, especially spoiling them at Christmas (which everyone who knew her remembers as her favorite holiday).

Patty found comfort in the beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and became a member in 2016. It is within this community she discovered an extended family and friendships that endured through the end of her life. During her last years, Patty took residence at Rocky Mountain Care Center. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers and friends at Rocky Mountain. Your care and companionship shown to our mother/grandmother are greatly appreciated.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents: Clyde G. Kanady and Helen Cochran Kanady. Her son: David. Her husband: Michael Dutey. Patricia is survived by her two daughters: DaLynn (Wade) and Dawnette, and her grandchildren Ashlee, Nikolas, Jakob, and Kiara.

Obituary Preview: Cecil Dean George, passed away July 11, 2020 at the age of 92. The son of Preal and Artemesia Palmer George, born and raised in Kanosh Utah. He loved school, excelling in spelling and arithmetic, in spite of being very mischievous and a bit of a "cut up". His childhood days consisted of working morning until night in the fields and on the family farm. In High School Cecil made "All State", lettering in Football, Basketball, Track and Wrestling. He was very popular with both the student body as well as the teachers. After graduating from High School, he joined the Army. Upon released from the Army, he reacquainted himself with the stunning Norma Bushnell, from Meadow, Utah. Her quick wit and wonderful family, prompted their being sealed together in the St George Temple, December 16, 1948. They are the parents of Gary (Mary) George, Gloria (Mont) Vargason and Jill Hubble, 11 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren.

Cecil and Norma had a strong work ethic, which made it possible for them to maintain two residences one in Utah and one in Nevada. They lived honest, obedient lives, as Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving diligently in many callings and auxiliaries (as well as supporting and sustaining their children in their callings).

Their early years of marriage, Cecil worked the family farming business and had his own feed delivering company. Norma worked as a secretary for Millard County. Due to not enough income to sustain all family members, Cecil and Norma left their home in Kanosh and moved to Salt Lake City Utah. Cecil worked at several jobs before securing employment with Otis Elevator Company (United Technologies).

In October of 1967, at age 39, Cecil was working on an Elevator when a terrible accident occurred and Cecil's right hand was severed. Thanks to his "not giving up" attitude, and by the grace of God, Cecil relearn how to write, tie his shoes, all daily tasks with only one hand..... as well as repair and rebuild elevator machinery. Cecil was devastated to learn he could not return to work. After several requests and appeals, for Otis to give him a chance to return to work, Cecil was granted a probationary time to prove himself capable of performing his duties, which he did. This was a huge accomplishment in his life. Cecil worked his way up the ranks from service repair man to the Western Regional Manager for, retiring 35 yrs later with several acknowledgments and awards as to his successful management skills. Cecil was also a longtime member of the Utah Rotary Club, he enjoyed the friendships and associations he made with so many great men there.

Norma worked during this time of trial supporting the family as an executive secretary for the CEO of Kennecott Copper Corp. a demanding full time job, while raising their family, and creating a beautiful home environment. Cecil was very proud of Norma, praising her often for her financial and business organizational skills. Norma retired from Kennecott at age 56, Cecil was still working so Norma earned her Realtors licenses, in Utah and Nevada., and belonged to several investment clubs which she greatly enjoyed.

In 2005 Cecil was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Positive he could "beat it", and he did for 15 tedious years. He could be found in his spare time at any of the new car dealerships, checking out the latest vehicles, in any one of the four corner states. He kept his vehicles immaculate, as well their residences.

Cecil and Norma stayed very active, entertaining Cecil's business colleagues, traveling and bowling on several leagues. Even in their elderly years Cecil was aggressively walking two miles every day with his fast walking and vivacious wife Norma until she passed away one year ago. Her death was extremely hard on him as the two of them were inseparable, and devoted their time and efforts in creating a perfect life for themselves.

Cecil is survived by all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
