I was very impressed with remodel. Augmention of counter staff impressive. I asked for a 'today ' appointment for my cat who was acting 'strangely'. They gave me an appointment in an hours time. I was out of there 30 minutes later. Doc Richards looked at Willie - talked to me about diagnosis & options. They scanned all previous paperwork from previous vets re Willie. I have used Graef Clinic for many years however my last visit will be my last. I took in 2 very ill kittens. I told the receptionist that the kittens were very sick. As she was taking the information, I looked at one kitten and knew it didn't have much time so I told her that one of the kittens was barely holding on. Instead of being seen immediately I had to sit in a very chilly waiting area for 30 minutes before being taken to a room. Of course the kitten died while waiting. The only person in the whole place who expressed any sympathy was an assistant. The doctor could not have cared less about my kittens and never once said sorry or offered a diagnosis or any kind of help. I left $124 poorer with a dead kitten and no compassion! Since I have to pay for an office visit and receive nothing in the way of help or compassion I can see no reason to drive out there anymore! I can get THAT anywhere! I MISS DR.GRAEF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Read Less

I'm disappointed with the experience I had this past Monday. I made an appointment for my two dogs to get check-ups and I was sitting there maybe 15 minutes (not bad) and a woman comes in with her dog that had passed away. They took her to the back which was still ok but after waiting awhile longer, I was told they were going to take my dogs individually to the back for their check-ups because their weren't any rooms available. I told them I wanted to be in the back while they did the exam but I was completely ignored. They took one dog and was back in a matter of 2-3 minutes so I thought that was pretty fast. I told them I had concerns with my other dog because of a lump and a "cyst" as they called it. She took that dog back and told me she didn't see anything. They were both cut really short and if I would have been able to go to the back or even if they would've taken the time to do a thorough exam the vet would have seen the issue. At this point they had sent the other woman away with her dog and the vet came out to talk to me in the lobby as if it wasn't important enough for me to have an exam room. Although she was nice, I felt rushed and appalled that they would discuss my dogs health issues in front of everyone. I didn't get to ask half the questions I intended on asking because I was sitting in the lobby being seen. They used the excuse of the emergency situation with the other woman but it appeared they just overbooked appointments. For this to be my first time coming to the new place, I was disappointed. I already miss Dr. Graef and hope I can find a veterinarian just as good as him. That place will never be the same. Read Less

I called this place because i had been reccomended to them and heard that they were very affordable. We live in Georgetown and aren't the kind of people who take their dog to the doctor. We go to the traveling clinics. We noticed a large golf ball sized mass on my dogs throat and thought it should be looked at. Dr. Richard was amazing! She told me she was pretty sure it was Lymphoma and that it had spread. She gave me my options. When i told her we would not do treatment she didn't try to convince me otherwise. She gave Bear something for the pain and told me I would know when it was time to put him to sleep. They were compassionate, kind, and extremely affordable. I will love on our furry pet until its time to go back. Read Less

Terrible ezperieb e and won't be going back, prior to new ownership we never had a problem. I made an appointment 5pm got off work rushed home to get my dog and made it there at 4:45, there was a line of customers waiting to get checked in, the receptionist was on a personal her personal phone playing on it so by the time she checked me in it was 5:07pm and she said I was late, 1st bad vibe, 2nd it took 30 minutes to put me in an exam room, then she said she is will talk the doctor about my dog but never ask me why I'm there. After waiting in the examination room 30 min I go out to the receptionist desk and there she was back playing on her phone i ask her whats going on and she threw her hands in the air and said she dont know whats going on, at that point I walked out and will never go back. Good riddance. Thank you Dr Graef for previous years and appointments but you made a terrible choice of who you sold your business to and uses your namesake. Read Less

If I could give less than a 1 star I would. I adopted a cat from Taylor Animal Rescue. She was too young to spay at the time so they gave me a certificate to make an appointment with Graef Veterinary Hospital. When I made the appointment they told me to come before 11:00. That should have been my first clue. I showed up around 8:00 and there were people standing in line waiting.....first come first serve. When they discovered what I was there for they checked in my kitty. She was in a small carrier and was very nervous. I asked if I could pick her up and they said she must stay overnight and that they would call me when the surgery was over. After not hearing I called around 4:30. She had not had her surgery. I asked if someone would be at the clinic overnight and was told no. Bright and early next morning I was there to pick her up. She was brought out in her crate and it was obvious that she had spent the entire last 24 hours in it. The pad was soaked with urine; there were signs that she had pooped in her crate. Her hair was matted and stinky. She obviously was not well cared for. If you are particular about your pets this is not the place to go.Also, they told me the sutures would dissolve on their own and I did not have to bring her back. Not true...they were nylon and I had to remove them myself. Read Less

After visiting other vets that insisted our Golden Retriever needed $600 surgery Dr. Graef noted that he believed surgery was not necessary and that his ear could be treated another way. We got out of there with a lot of knowledge and a healing ear for under $50. He also mentioned that the same surgery if it was ultimately needed would only be $95 at his clinic. Aside from the MASSIVE savings that Graef has given us our dog was very comfortable and treated well and Graef spent ample amounts of time describing our dogs issue and how to stay ahead of it and answering any and all questions we had. It is very apparent that he has an immense love of animals and is truly in this business to care for animals and not to line his pockets. We love him! Read Less

I find it amazing that those writing 1 star reviews didn't use this vet. Yelp used to remove those types of reviews as they are useless - they don't really tell you what to expect. So here's the real facts.1. It's first come, first serve. That means driving out there and waiting. I waited 2 hours today.2. They are sometimes closed. Well, heck, this could be frustrating but call first. They do answer the phone but there's no call waiting or voicemail so you may have to call more than once.3. The pricing is AMAZING! Standard office visit is $20. They don't "get even" by overcharging on procedures. In fact, today I had something done on my dog that cost me $58 in total (with visit fee). The SAME procedure at a reasonably priced Austin vet was $127 two weeks ago.4. The staff is friendly compassionate and, most importantly, skilled. I feel we had the vet's full attention and we were not rushed out. He heard out all concerns. My very favorite part - there was NO attempt to talk me up to a more expensive procedure. Our specifics: I was aware of why my dog's ear was wonky and I knew it was normal for vets to recommend surgery for it. I called around and got an estimate from both of my normal vets. It cost $500 at Thrive (a local value-priced vet I haven't tried out yet) and $1200 at my two, soon to be not, go to vets. I did my homework. The surgery is very painful and isn't necessarily more effective. The blood hematoma my dog had on his ear is not life threatening and will actually go away on its own but may leave a scar. He's had this before and we'd had it drained at another vet last month. I turned down the expensive surgery and was using Arnica and Sulfur to help the body reabsorb the blood and heal his ear. He was almost past it when he got skunked. Went on a head shaking frenzy and brought the full force of the hematoma back. It had gotten huge and my boy was clearly uncomfortable. This led me to seek out Dr. Graef who I'd been considering but had not yet tried. Taylor is a haul and waiting a pain.I am VERY glad to have gone out there. The clinic is old but spotless. Oscar got exactly the care he needed. So if you want new, a specific appointment and convenience, go elsewhere. There are excellent vets all over Austin. If you want great care and are willing to trade convenience for a much lower price, go out to Taylor and visit Graef. Read Less

I took my dog to Dr. Miller after several other vets failed to find out what was causing his skin condition. Dr. Miller ran several test and sent off lab cultures and discovered that my dog did not have the mange (like others diagnosed), nor did he have "allergies" (like others diagnosed), but he did have a bacteria and staff infection. He also have a low immune system. Dr. Miller treated him with almost instant results. My dog went from lethargic and looking like he was about to die to perky and energetic in no time. I believe Dr. Miller saved his life when other vets just wanted my wallet. He is a great vet and doesn't shy away from finding what is wrong with you animal. I've heard the comments about "killer miller" and I see no reason for such hate. I also acknowledge that sometimes it is beyond the vets control and they are human - making mistakes just like the rest of us, but Dr. Miller reminds me of the old time vets we used when I was a child. He cares about what he does, his intentions are to help your pets -not to drain your wallet, and he tells you the truth. He does not tell you crap that you know to be untrue to get you to pay more for something your pet does not need and that means a lot to me. Read Less
